A united family

The Málaga CF Femenino and Atlético Malagueño teams shared a day of celebrations together yesterday. They took a group photo at La Rosaleda that is now part of history.

Málaga CF is a family, something that was highlighted by the members of the Malagueño and Femenino squads. On Sunday, both teams secured promotion, albeit some 2,000 kilometres away from each other, but both were very aware of how the other was doing.

Screams of joy were heard amongst the reserve team when they heard the news that the girls had now made it to the Liga Iberdrola. For their part, the Malaguista girls followed the boys’ match live via mobile phone whilst awaiting their flight. The roar that could be heard at the Canary Islands airport showed that Atlético Malagueño had won promotion to 2ªB.

On Monday, now back on the Costa del Sol, they coincided at various media calls they attended together, but Tuesday was the big day. The teams met at La Rosaleda and exchanged congratulations, moments before taking to the stands for an historic photograph. Also part of the photo were MCF Academy director, Antonio Tapia; Club advisers, Antonio Benítez, Abdullah Ben Barek and Francisco Martín Aguilar; and the coaches of both teams, Dely Valdés and Antonio Contreras. They subsequently all boarded the coach to begin the celebrations of their respective achievements.

First, they made a floral offering together to the Divina Pastora, patron saint of sport, followed by a reception at the City Council. To round off the celebrations, everyone headed to Casa Juan Los Mellizos in Torremolinos to enjoy a large informal dinner.

There is total union between the two teams, who share a very special date, 27th May 2018, the day they achieved promotion.

Congratulations!
