Press conference

“The Málaga that I want is one that can compete anywhere”

Pablo Guede held his first pre-match press conference this Friday at La Rosaleda. “Everyone is going to be important. The bus has already started and they are all on board,” said the Málaga CF coach.

The coach assessed the pre-season as “correct. We worked very conscientiously and the players, from the outset, were very involved in the work. Now the good times begin, what we’ve been training for. The league is long, we are going to go experience many situations and we have to know how to face them,” he stated.

In terms of objectives, Guede is clear: “The aim is to compete every day, and for every training session to be better than the day before. We’re enthusiastic, happy, a magnificent group. Promotion? The players say how they feel, it’s respectable and exciting.”

“There are many things to adjust, and those things can only happen during competitive matches. We are on that path, but Sunday to Sunday is what marks you,” added the Spanish-Argentinean, who wants a Málaga “that can compete anywhere. What does it mean to compete? For the rival to make sufficient merits to be able to beat us. And we must compete and play at the same level as any rival on any pitch. This is my number one goal,” he stressed.

Pablo Guede said of the training over summer: “I was very surprised by the technical quality during the pre-season. At the group level, what I like is that we have very clear ideas. There aren’t many of us, everyone will have to play and everyone will be important. The bus has already started and they are all on board,” he said.

For Guede it’s important that “everyone feels like a starting player, and the message is that everyone is going to play.” In regard to Sunday’s rival, “we'll see when we get the line-up. What worries me? Everything. The nerves…We’re against a tough rival with a coach with very clear ideas to which the team responds well. The nerves are there, but it’ll be great to see how we do,” he commented.
