There was an excellent atmosphere at the Manolo Jiménez de Arahal municipal ground on a very warm Saturday evening, with the presence of Malaguista supporters within this neutral venue packed with San Fernando fans.
Malaguista coach, Javi Ramos selected the following starting-11: Sara, Carmen Aguilar, Marta ©, Belén, María Jiménez, Lucía Gálvez, Alejandra, Durán, Pato, Carla Aguilar and Ana. During the match there were constant changes, allowed even for substituted players (as happens in basketball and handball).
The Blue and Whites soon took the lead. A sensational cross from the left by María Jiménez led Ana to slam the ball into the net (1-0, 12’). Subsequently, there was a raft of clear chances to score a second with Carla Aguilar as the protagonist. In minute 18, with a cross shot to the post; in minute 28, in a one-on-one that was cleared by the rival goalkeeper; and in 38', the international Cadete assisted Ana, who sent the ball into the hands of the goalkeeper.
In the second half, MCFF 'B' continued to impose their gameplay on the artificial turf of the Manolo Jiménez. The rival was incapable of generating chances and the game, at times, became very arduous with continuous interruptions that favoured Javi Ramos' girls.
Then in the final stretch madness broke out during play. Marta, in the first and only clear approach for San Fernando throughout the match, took the game level (1-1, 85'). But the talent and quality of Carla Aguilar reappeared at the last minute. Anthological play on the right, and a pass to ‘pichichi’ Ana led to the winning promotion goal at full time (2-1, 90'). A brace that will go down in history.
With the referee’s final whistle, the joy and tears of happiness were unleashed by these homegrown players who next season will compete in the fourth category of national football, just one step below Málaga CF Femenino’s first team. A great success for the coaching staff and players that reaffirms the fantastic present and enormous future of the Club's women's grassroots football.
