Málaga CF travelled to face CD Getafe Femenino at the Polideportivo Municipal Juan de la Cierva on Sunday at 16:30, in their sixth-round fixture in Group 3 of the Segunda Federación Femenina.
The Blue and Whites, wearing their second kit in a league match for the first time, went into the game sitting among the top three with 13 points, while their opponents were sixth, three points behind.
Héctor Díaz lined up his side in a 1-4-5-1 formation, with M. Arrabal in goal; Encarni, Jeni L., Yoli Peche and Elsa in defence; Andrea Ríos and Marina Tomás in the double pivot; Carmela, Andrea Herr. and L. Ramos in attacking midfield; and Torralvo as the lone striker. Noemi, Futu, Belén and Arantxa also featured in the second half.
The match got off to a difficult start for Málaga, with Lara Pintassilgo giving the hosts an early lead (1-0, 8').
Despite the initial setback, the Malaguistas took control and put the Getafe defence under sustained pressure, creating chances that were kept out by home goalkeeper Paula Vizoso. Torralvo had three clear opportunities to draw Málaga level, but the equaliser finally arrived just before half-time. Encarni delivered a cross from the right and Andrea Herr. fired the ball into the back of the net (1-1, 45').
Málaga continued to dominate after the break, with several warnings signalling that a second goal was coming. It duly arrived in the 52nd minute, when a Getafe defender turned the ball into her own net following another cross from Encarni on the right (1-2, 52').
Andrea Herr. and Noemi both had chances to put the game beyond reach during the second half, but an inspired performance from the home goalkeeper denied them. The decisive goal eventually came in the closing stages, when Futu latched onto a through ball from Arantxa, who was making her first appearance of the season, before beating the goalkeeper one-on-one (1-3, 90').
The result takes Héctor Díaz’s side to 16 points, keeping them joint top of the table alongside CD Argual, their next opponents.
The seventh-round fixture will take place on Sunday 25 October at 12:00 at the Ciudad Deportiva Fundación MCF.
