Statement by LaLiga

The Entity echoes the full statement made by LaLiga following the meeting of its Delegate Commission this Monday 24th August.

The Judge for Social Discipline, on 7th August, 2020, decided to close the disciplinary file initiated against CF Fuenlabrada, considering that CF Fuenlabrada have not been guilty of any negligence or protocol violation. The Judge’s decision endorses the actions of LaLiga and CF Fuenlabrada against the Extraordinary Procedure File No. 562 2019/20 of the Competition Committee of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), initiated against the aforementioned public limited sports company.

LaLiga reiterates its absolute respect and support for this decision of the LaLiga Judge for Social Discipline, the only one competent by reason of the matter to resolve this issue.

After analysing all the documentation provided by those responsible for LaLiga, this Executive Committee understands that the established protocols were respected and that CF Fuenlabrada complied with LaLiga's instructions at all times.

In relation to the communications received by RFEF regarding the non-authorisation of the calendar draw, this Committee ratifies LaLiga's decision, in accordance with its powers, to proceed with the celebration of the draw on 27th August at the venue corresponding.

Furthermore, this Executive Committee considers inadmissible any proposal that aims to alter the number of members of LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank, since it must only keep to sports results. LaLiga has already expressly stated this point in a communication sent to RFEF, on 14th August.

Finally, the Committee calls on the institutions to ensure respect for LaLiga's scope of competence, thus avoiding undue interference that hinders the normal functioning of an industry that represents 1.37% of GDP and creates 185,000 jobs. A football league that has more than demonstrated its total support for the rest of Spanish sport.
