Málaga CF statement

Málaga Club de Fútbol has appealed against the expulsion of David Lombán during the match against SD Huesca at La Rosaleda to the RFEF’s Competition Committee.

The Entity has lodged an appeal with the Competition Committee for the expulsion of central defender David Lombán in the match against SD Huesca held at La Rosaleda corresponding to LaLiga SmartBank matchday 32.

Referee Álvaro Moreno Aragón showed the red card to the Blue and White player in minute 58 of play for a hard tackle on Huesca’s Rafa Mir.

Once the images from the match had been viewed, there was found to have been no contact between the Málaga CF player and the SD Huesca player. As such, due to the absence of contact between Lombán and Rafa Mir, the Club has appealed against the expulsion to the Royal Spanish Football Federation’s Competition Committee.

The decision made by the referee means Sergio Pellicer’s team will not be able to count on the services of one of the captains and a player with a professional registration ahead of the upcoming game against CD Tenerife (Monday 15th, 21:30). This exacerbates the team’s situation as the formal request put forward by the Entity to eradicate the obligation for seven professional players to be present on the pitch has not been met.
