Competition Committee overturns Lombán’s red card

The Blue and White central defender is now exempt from the sanction and will be available to coach Sergio Pellicer for the upcoming league game against CD Tenerife.

The RFEF’s Competition Committee has responded to the appeal filed by Málaga CF in regard to the expulsion of David Lombán during the match against SD Huesca.

Via a formal communication and in accordance with the articles of the Federation Disciplinary Code, the Entity has been informed that the red card shown to the Blue and White central defender carries no disciplinary effect.

The statement reports that "in regard to the allegations and the video evidence provided by Málaga Club de Fútbol, SAD, regarding the expulsion of the player, David Rodríguez Lombán, this Competition Committee considers:

“It is a reiterated standard of this Competition Committee that the evaluation of an error in the arbitration act requires the provision of evidence that unequivocally proves either the absence of the fact reflected during the act, or the clear arbitrariness of it. The careful examination of the evidence allows us to determine in this case that there is no contact between the players in the gameplay under scrutiny, and therefore the action described does not exist, hence the allegations made by Málaga CF SAD are upheld”.

As such, the defender will be available for the upcoming league match, corresponding to LaLiga SmartBank matchday 33 against CD Tenerife (Monday 15th June at 21:30).
