Málaga CF statement

Málaga Club de Fútbol has asked the RFEF to revoke the obligation of having seven professionals on the pitch.

Taking into account the worry regarding a possible spike in COVID-19 infections, and the consequences that this may have for some of the teams competing in the Professional Football League, our Club has requested an exceptional amendment to the regulation.

The Delegate Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation has amended the General Regulations for First and Second Division National Competitions. As such, up to five player substitutions can be made and the maximum number of substitute players is increased to 12.

Based on these changes, the Entity has issued a formal request to the RFEF to eradicate the requirement for seven players with a professional registration to be present on the field of play. A rule that could threaten the team’s permanency in the competition in the case of player infections.
