Calero undergoes successful surgery

The Blue and White player was operated on yesterday in Madrid by Doctor Manuel Leyes at Clínica CEMTRO, a month after he sustained injury in Almería.

Iván Calero’s injury was initially diagnosed as a grade II sprain to the internal lateral ligament of the left knee, and a partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament of the same joint.

During surgery, a very superficial partial tear of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus was found in the internal compartment, which had already healed. In regard to the external meniscus, a radial tear was found between the body and the posterior horn of the external meniscus itself. A partial meniscectomy was carried out and a large part of the meniscus has been preserved.

In addition, an anterior cruciate ligament plasty was performed with the central third of the patellar tendon. The technique used for the ligamentoplasty is medically known as HTH.

Calero is doing well and depending on how he progresses, will be discharged today or tomorrow, Saturday.
