Murillo undergoes surgery on his right knee

Malaguista centre-back Murillo underwent surgery for an injury to the medial collateral ligament in his right knee, which occurred in the final match of the 2025/26 season played in Almería.

Diego Murillo was forced off injured in the 53rd minute of #AlmeríaMálaga at the UD Almería Stadium on Saturday 20th June, which ended in a 1-2 victory for Málaga and promotion to LALIGA EA SPORTS.

Subsequent medical tests on the defender revealed a medial collateral ligament injury in his right knee, along with damage to the medial meniscus.

On Tuesday, the player underwent surgery without complications, performed by Dr. Antonio Luis Leiva Gea at Hospital Quirónsalud Málaga. The procedure involved an arthroscopic repair of the medial meniscus, as well as reinforcement of the anterior bundle of the medial collateral ligament at its tibial insertion.

Murillo will begin his post-operative recovery after the necessary rest period, with the aim of optimising the healing of the repair and reducing the risk of re-injury.

Wishing you a smooth recovery, Diego!
