Loren Juarros: “We’ll be patient in order to build the most complete squad possible”

Málaga’s sporting director reviewed the club’s current sporting situation in a press conference: “We have a base of young players who will continue to grow; we won’t make rushed decisions just to fill positions.”

Roadmap

“There are different situations. With Einar, the intention is to extend his contract with Málaga, and that could be finalised soon. Eneko will be leaving Málaga, however, the club’s idea is to keep a third striker. The club is assessing options to improve the squad, but we also have a base of players under contract, and we will continue with them, strengthening where possible within the parameters we can operate in. The situation of Luismi will be communicated by him when he has something to say.”

Market

“I think you all know my way of working. I’m not going to go into anything specific. The market will show us how far we can go. Also, there are players coming back from injuries, such as Juanpe, Murillo, Einar, Ramón, Haitam … and we’ll see how they reintegrate. Those details will determine whether we make four, five or six signings. We’ll be patient in building the most complete squad possible. Calmness is key, and we won’t make rushed decisions just to fill positions. It’s going to be a tough season. We have a base of young players who will keep developing, and any signings we make have to be carefully chosen so they really add value.”

Immediate future

“Security in football, just the right amount. We are already in talks with players and agents, and this promotion and the feeling we have is positive. The club wants to avoid the departure of key players with potential, within their release clauses, and is determined to enforce them. The players’ willingness is simply to play next season with Málaga.”

Club’s plan

“We already had the idea, whether we achieved promotion or not, of continuing to grow. There was a reinforcement plan in every sense for the sporting department, including work abroad, etc. And for the club’s overall structure as well, media, the Academy… all aimed at strengthening this model of club. The Academy is something I see as fundamental. We develop players, and now they need to be more prepared with the First Division in mind. We also need to monitor player recruitment and the development process more closely. The club has been able to generate a strong sense of belonging, and this will result in the boys here, local players from Málaga, seeing the possibility of reaching the highest level while staying at Málaga.”

Goalkeeping

“There are no doubts about Alfonso Herrero and Carlos López. The goalkeeping department is well covered with these two players.”

Atlético Malagueño

“The idea is to continue with Bravo and to make some changes to the coaching staff. We want to reinforce and develop players for a different level, and the work must speed up that process as soon as possible. We will try to strengthen Malagueño so it can compete in a new category. It is a new generation, and we have time to work on an individual level. I am not overly concerned about the team’s division, we don’t build teams to win titles, but to improve each player individually. If that is done well, the team will end up in a higher category.

Personal

“We’ve experienced everything with a lot of intensity… I’m getting to know you all, and that’s how it is. I’ve done my job to help the players, to be close to them, and I feel satisfied. I’m grateful to them for what they’ve done and how they’ve grown. I have a clear, honest relationship, and it’s the result of day-to-day work.”

Clear objective

“It’s obvious, there are no more promotions now. The goal is to establish the club in the top flight. To compete on equal terms, stay humble, and approach every match by playing and competing. The team’s objective is clear, to maintain this identity and way of working above all else. That will bring stability to this project. We must be ambitious while remaining humble, because we’ve only just entered this elite level.”

Final message

“To congratulate the players. There is no doubt that Málaga deserved to be in the First Division, because of their commitment, their identity, and their football… They are the ones who made it happen. To the coaching staff, for how they managed it and how they won. To the club, to all departments, for giving their very best to be in LaLiga today. To the Academy, which has been responsible for much of this, and to all the players who have passed through these last three years for everything they have contributed. Three seasons with three fantastic dressing rooms. And to Sergio Pellicer and Manolo Sánchez, who started this and made a major contribution. To the fans, for helping make this possible with an incredible, deeply connected supporter base. And to you (the media), who have also been close to the club, I ask you to continue in the same way so that all of this keeps moving forward.”
