Montero: “It’s a privilege to be where we are right now”

The centre-back appeared in the press room at La Rosaleda after the 0-0 draw against UD Almería. “We’ll stick to our plan; if we score one more goal than them, we’ll get it done,” he said.

Dressing room

“We’re really eager and full of excitement. We’re just one goal away from the opposition from being in the First Division. That’s what I’ve felt in the dressing room.”

UD Almería

“They came to make it a long, controlled game. We tried, maybe without the freshness we’ve shown on other days, but keeping a clean sheet and taking a draw is important given their quality. We’ll stick to our plan, and we’ll see what happens there in front of their fans. For us, if we score one more than them, we’ll get it done.”

Excitement and determination

“It’s a privilege to be where we are right now, in a playoff final and just one game away from the First Division. We’re approaching it with huge excitement and full determination to give everything.”

Personal

“On a personal level, it’s been a tough season at times, but I always believed my opportunity would come. I stayed mentally strong so I’d be ready when that moment arrived in the final stretch. Now, which is the most important thing, is when the team needs everyone to step up.”
