The two Malaguista players spoke to the media this Wednesday after renewing their contracts until the end of the season. “Helping the team is what gave us the opportunity to be here and compete with the biggest clubs,” they said.
Einar
Renewal
“For me, it’s a source of great pride. I’m very pleased with these past three years, and now we have a very tough challenge ahead. When I arrived, things were difficult as well, and just look where we are three years later. I’m really excited and motivated by this new chapter, and I can’t wait to start competing against the biggest clubs.”
“Both of us have earned the chance to be here. Fortunately, our journey has mirrored the team’s progress. Contributing in different ways is what has given us the opportunity to remain here. We’re very happy with everything we’ve achieved.”
Playing in the First Division
“Playing in the top flight is a huge challenge. I joined Málaga when the club was in a lower division, but it was always the club where I wanted to be. We’ve enjoyed three wonderful years together. Now we’re facing a massive challenge, and I’ve never had the opportunity to play in the elite before. I’m really excited and eager to experience this season. Hopefully, it will be just as special as the previous ones.”
Málaga
“Málaga has welcomed me with open arms, and there are some wonderful people here. That connection is what means the most to me”.
Captaincy
“There’s definitely a sense of responsibility. But it shouldn’t fall solely on me because I’m one of the senior players, or on Alfonso because he’s the captain, it has to be shared by everyone. We all have our role to play, and we step up when the team needs us. The demands are higher now, but the path has already been laid. We just have to keep moving in the direction we’ve been heading.”
Playing in Mendizorroza
“When the fixtures were announced, the first thing you look for is when you’ll be returning home. It’s on 25th October, I’ve already got it marked on my calendar, and I’m really looking forward to it.”
Jauregi
Renewal
“This is my second year here, and it’s an incredible source of pride to continue at the club with this group of players. We’re going to keep working hard and aim to keep improving.”
“Nothing has been handed to us. We’re all here to compete with one another, and it’s up to the manager to decide who plays.”
Playing in Primera
“It’s a dream you’ve had since you were a kid. For some, it comes sooner; for others, it takes a little longer. We’re all here to compete with each other, and the season is a long one. It’s a dream I’m determined to fulfil, and when the opportunity came to stay, there was never any doubt. The city and the club are fantastic, and it’s a privilege to be here.”
Málaga
“I’d heard so much about the people who work here and how wonderful they are. Last season was incredible, and you really develop a bond with the city and the people you meet every day. It’s something I’m very proud of.”
Competition
“There’s healthy competition among the strikers. We have a great relationship on a daily basis. Whenever Chupe has been called upon to play, I’ve been there to support him, and he’s done the same for me. We have a very close-knit squad, and we’re great teammates.”
On the match he's most looking forward to
“Our second home game at La Rosaleda. The fans deserve it, and we know they’ll give us a fantastic welcome.”
