Weligton: “It was a special day for Malaguismo to continue to grow”

One of Málaga CF’s first team captains, Weligton de Oliveira held a press conference in La Rosaleda’s press room: “It’s special to be in training and close to the children.”

Training at La Rosaleda

"It was a different, special day to be in training and close to the children.  This helps Malaguismo continue to grow, and there’s no better way of doing that than with children and young people.”

Objectives

"The first objective was permanency, which we’ve almost certainly achieved.  The second goal is to finish the League season as high up the table as possible and get close to Europe.  However, as we said at the beginning of the season, we only focus on the next game, and we’ll see what the future brings.”

Dynamic

"Our aim is to look upwards, we’ve got many games coming up looking at the schedule.  We are aware that every victory is important, but we’ve got a good dynamic and I hope it continues.”

Stay in the fight

"The numbers are there, we’re scoring goals, not conceding them and moving up the table.  We will try to remain in the fight until the last game, and then we’ll see where we are at the end of the competition.”

Eager to continue

"I’m calm, playing and helping the team.  I feel comfortable from a personal point of view, and I am keen to stay for another year.  The time to talk will come, but right now that’s not what’s concerning me.”

Team work

"Talking about one player or another would be unfair, we must recognise the work of everyone on the team.  We struggled at the beginning of the season, but we’ve got a strong, united dressing room and we know that the results come with hard work.  If I have to highlight something it would be the commitment of everyone, the coach, the Club and the fans, and we never abandoned our objective.”
