Victory against Almería for the girls (2-0)

Three points for Málaga CF Femenino against UD Almería on matchday five of Segunda Federación Grupo Sur. Futu and María Cortés scored the Blue and White goals in the second half.

After their away win to CD Pozoalbense in the last league game, MCFF returned home to the Francisco Romero ground in Rincón de la Victoria to host UD Almería on Segunda Federación - Grupo Sur matchday 5.

Juanma’s girls arrived at this second Andalusian derby with six points in the pot, two more than the rival.

The Blue and White starting line-up consisted of María Arrabal in goal; Encarni, Ruth, Silvia Mérida and Olmedo in defence; María Cortés and Nazaret on the double pivot; Sonia Torralvo and Marilén on the wings; and Bertuchi and Monterroso upfront.

From the outset, the Malaguistas’ dominance on the pitch was evident. María Cortés tried her luck from distance with a shot that was deflected by the rival goalkeeper before reaching the first quarter of an hour of play.

A highly active Sonia Torralvo stepped up the attack on the right wing throughout the first half.

The first approach from Almería came in minute 27, when María Arrabal made a great save from an attempt by former Malaguista, Lorena.

After half an hour, Bertuchi responded with a long shot that sailed over the crossbar.

At half-time it was all square at 0-0.

In the second half, the Malaguista coach made a number of changes. Sonia Torralvo moved upfront for Bertuchi who shifted to the left wing, and Marilén moved to the right wing.

The Blue and Whites could have taken the lead in minute 55, but Silvia Mérida’s shot hit the post.

Futu came on in place of Bertuchi in 61’ and her appearance on the field of play was decisive. The first ball she came into contact with found the back of the net. A long shot that escaped the Almeria goalkeeper and went straight into the goal (1-0, 64').

With the girls in the lead, Juanma made some changes. Ruth and Monterroso, made way for Marta Arias and Félicité.

The connection of the Futu and Sonia attacking duo almost led to the second goal, but the former’s shot went wide.

As the second half advanced, María Cortés masterfully executed a direct free kick from the right side of the area to find the rival goal (2-0, 76').

Five minutes later, Tati and Teté made their season debut, in place of Nazaret and Sonia Torralvo.

The scoreboard remained the same and MCFF claimed a 2-0 win, the third of the season, and the second consecutive victory with a clean sheet.

The Blue and Whites have nine points and in two weeks’ time will face Real Unión de Tenerife Santa Cruz away from home.
