Rubén Castro: “What matters are the three points”

The Blue and White striker, who equals Zarra in goals scored between the First and Second Division, is “very happy” and praises the fans. “The supporters are amazing,” he said.

“I really wanted” to win, “we struggled at the end even though we were 3-0 up in the 90th minute,” he told MCFTV on the pitch at the end of Málaga-Lugo. “What matters are the three points, we needed them, and above all for these people, who hadn't celebrated a victory here for a long time,” said Rubén.

The striker pointed out that “we did everything the coach asked of us. The early goal really helped us remain a little calmer. We played well, conceding those two goals tarnished the result somewhat, but the most important are the points,” he continued.

The number ‘24’ hopes that “things change from here on in and we start winning the three points each time, not just one or none.” On a personal level, he scored his 281st goal between the First and Second Divisions, matching the legendary Telmo Zarra and moving closer to Quini, the ‘pichichi’ of Spanish football in the aforementioned categories. “I have two challenges. Today I achieved one and I have three or four goals to go to become the top Spanish scorer; I hope to get there as soon as possible, especially so that it gives the team points. On a personal level, I'm very happy.”

Finally, Rubén praises the Malaguista fans. “As always, the supporters are amazing; seeing so many fans at the stadium to cheer on the team…they deserve this win,” he added.
