Loren: “Leading this project fills me with satisfaction and a sense of responsibility”

Málaga’s sporting director, after renewing his contract until 2028, spoke to MCFTV. “We have a future ahead that we must make viable, stable, and continue to strengthen,” he stated.

Continuity

“I feel satisfied and a strong sense of responsibility regarding the commitment I made to Málaga three years ago. We arrived with the idea of creating a model and a way of doing things, a project, that has grown over the seasons.”

Project

“We have gone through complicated and difficult situations, and the club has been able to overcome them. What lies ahead is no easier than what we have already faced, but our commitment is to carry this through to the end. The responsibility we take on in continuing to lead this project, both the first team and the Academy, fills me with satisfaction and even greater responsibility.”

“Coaches are fundamental pieces and the main driving forces, due to their connection with the first team and their ability to get the best out of the players, which is the engine that pulls the train of a football club. With that idea, their commitment and the mutual understanding we share in terms of how we see football and the style of play should help us continue to grow. This is not over, we have a future ahead that we must make viable, stabilise, and strengthen.”

Objectives

“In the short term, we are in the final phase of the championship, in a situation that the players and the coach have earned. In the medium and long term, a fundamental premise is that the first team performs as best as possible, but I do not forget about the Academy, that spring of talent for Málaga CF, which has provided all the homegrown players we have; we must continue nurturing it. We also have the Framework Agreement, there are different aspects we must keep working on, and it’s a long task to keep strengthening the standards we want for Málaga CF. The goal is for the Academy to continue supplying homegrown players to the first team, to retain this generation of footballers here as long as possible, and to help take Málaga to the highest level possible.”

Málaga and Malaguismo

“Trying to adapt to Málaga’s idiosyncrasy, socially, football-wise, adapting to everything that is different. We are satisfied with how we have brought together players from outside with those from the Academy. They are an example of cohesion and commitment, young and old, locals and outsiders. And the fanbase has identified with all of this and is enjoying it, beyond winning, drawing, or losing. Málaga supporters are feeling that this is their team, and that is what we must nurture, ensuring the team does not lose sight of these principles.”
