Víctor: “We don’t look at the standings, we’ll do that at the end of the league”

Malaguista coach, Víctor Sánchez del Amo attended to the media before kicking off the last training session ahead of #MálagaSporting: “We face this game with great optimism”.

#MálagaSporting

“With great optimism. The dynamic of the players in terms of attitude, work and performance is very positive. For us this is essential. That is what makes us enthusiastic, calm and hopeful that positive results will start to arrive at any moment”.

Latest results

“We are not at all worried about the dynamic of results. We place more importance on the work environment and the level of work in training sessions. We understand very clearly the context in which we are. We’re aware that the players are giving the level that can be requested in this context. We’re excited as at any time we’ll start to change the run of results in order to begin to accumulate a consecutive streak of more positive results”.

Equality of the competition

“If we look at the teams in this Second Division, there are big games every week. There are some historic teams, with a curriculum and history in Spanish football. This means that every week we have classic Spanish football matches. There will certainly be one this Sunday at La Rosaleda. We hope to give our fans, who I’m sure will be there cheering on the team, a wonderful match and a winning result”.

Standings

“We don’t look at the standings now. It has no relevance. The standings will become important in the final stretch of the competition. There’s also no need to look at other teams. If we looked at this same club last season, with a spectacular start of six victories, in the final part of the competition the team suffered a negative dynamic and moved out of the playoff positions. For us the team’s results are not fair in regard to the merits on the pitch. What matters most to us is not the number of points the team has now, it’s about the competitive ability. This makes us harbour a great deal of optimism as we know that the team can start to gain positive results at any point. This is not about how it starts, but about how it ends”.

Sporting de Gijón

“Sporting is a team that works very well defensively, with good pressure and a block in midfield that functions well. We’ll have to be extremely precise in order to give them any problems, especially playing at home and being very clear that we want to win the game”.
