José Herrera: “The team’s dominance is evident, but we’re lacking in that last stretch”

The Málaga CF Femenino coach analysed the point scored against Pozoalbense Femenino and praised the attitude of the Blue and White fans: “They were spectacular”.

A mistake

“The lack of concentration in terms of defending the set piece led to the Pozoalbense goal. From then on, we saw a dominating Málaga that owned the game. We lacked goals, but if we look at the percentages of possession and opportunities generated it’s overwhelming. Pozoalbense did a good job, we knew it would be like that as we are Málaga. They came here to claim their point and play their game, but I believe we dominated for more than 85 minutes”.

Team analysis

“The result doesn’t reflect the match, although this is an advantage. The result is what it is, and Pozoalbense scored a point due to our lack of accuracy. We’re clear that we have to take the initiative, we have extremely versatile players, great footballers, but we’re lacking in that last stretch to push the ball. The team’s game play and dominance are evident”.

Aspects to improve

“I want this team for the remainder of the season, but with a little more punch. If we hadn’t conceded that goal, I’m sure they would have advanced their lines and we could have found the spaces. However, they scored and played well, so from then on, we changed the scheme and placed more players on the attack, but we still couldn’t get a goal. Their goalkeeper was spectacular. I believe you should congratulate the rival when they win or draw as football isn’t just about a moment of attack, you also have to defend”.

The fans

“The positive is the associative capacity of this team, our attacking midfielders receive balls on the inside, generate goal chances etc. However, the most positive aspect is the fans, they were spectacular”.
