Víctor: “I’m where I want to be”

The young right-back spoke to the media at La Rosaleda during his official presentation as a Malaguista player. “We want to take each match at a time and try to beat Almería,” he said.

The official presentation of Víctor Gómez was divided into two parts. The first was at the Juan Cortés press room at La Rosaleda Stadium, where the player held a press conference along with his teammates Antoñín and Sekou and Sporting Director, Manolo Gaspar. The second part featured his debut in front of the media, as Friday was the first time he wore the Blue and White jersey at La Rosaleda for the match against AD Alcorcón.

As usual, Manolo welcomed him, wished him great success and thanked him for his willingness to come to Málaga. Then it was time for the questions.

“The confidence that Manolo conveys is what made me decide to come here. In addition, I also know the coach from when we were at Mirandés,” said Víctor, as two of the main reasons he decided to play for the Blue and White team.

In regard to the peculiarity of the day of his presentation, on transfer deadline day, with nerves and uncertainty prevalent for many players, Victor appeared calm and happy. “I’m where I want to be and where I have decided to be. Our work is on the pitch, that’s what we have to do,” he said.

“We haven’t set a long-term goal for ourselves. We want to take each match at a time and try to beat Almería, and then Girona. It’s about focusing on our team, we have a lot of potential, so we’ll see what happens,” he said about the season.

After making his Blue and White debut in front of the Malaguista fans, Víctor said: “The team performed very well, you can see how much the group has grown. The Málaga fans are spectacular, and living it from the inside is incredible. This year I was lucky enough to make my debut and experience it.”

Lastly, the new Malaguista player said he “really wanted to come here,” and is clear about how he should play and what José Alberto wants from him, following his experience last season where both coincided.
