The player from the MCF Academy made his first team debut at La Rosaleda in the Málaga 1-0 Ponferradina clash (14th January 2020) and since then has become an indisputable player in defence thanks to his performance and consistency. “Who would have thought, when I arrived when I was little, that this moment would arrive. It’s a dream come true and I’m delighted to renew for another year. Hopefully there’ll be many more”, said Juande.
“I was 13 years old, this is my eighth year. I arrived here as a child, I’ve matured as a person and a player here. This is my home,” said the player from Córdoba, a homegrown player who has taken very confident steps in his professional career. “It’s all happened so fast, I started after the quarantine. It was a huge change moving from the reserve to the first team. These years have been great for me, it’s an honour to reach the elite in the club that has given me everything. From a personal point of view nothing has changed as I’m a calm person, but in terms of sport, it’s a big step moving from the youth ranks to the elite of Spanish football.”
Juande highlights the support of the loyal Malaguista fans who always support the team: “You can really feel the fans’ affection, they’ve always supported me. I only have words of thanks, they’ve supported us through the good and bad times.”
In regard to the future, the defender is clear. “I hope I’ll be here for many more years. I’m delighted and very grateful to the Club. I’ll be here as long as I can, this is my home and I’m so happy here,” said Juande Rivas, an example that working hard from grassroots level has its rewards. One thing is clear to us and that is that the best signings are made at home. We’re so happy we can continue counting on you!
