Sekou: “I hope to celebrate a lot of goals at this stadium”

The new Malaugista striker, who will wear the number ‘22’ jersey, was presented today at La Rosaleda. “Seeing the fans makes you want to play”, he said during his official presentation.

The Senegalese striker stated that “Málaga is an historic club on a national and European level, with amazing fans, which invites you to want to come here. I’m here, which is what I wanted, and I’m very pleased. I’m grateful to the fans and the Club for their efforts”.

When asked about his characteristics he was clear: “I’m an area player, I like to fight, stand up to rivals and what is required of a striker are goals. That’s what I’m here for, to help the team to the max, and if that’s with goals, then all the better”.

Sporting Director, Manolo Gaspar said about Sekou that “he wanted to be here from the outset. We’ve been talking for two years, now he’s here, everything was very straightforward and he decided to come here”.

Of the Malaguista supporters he said: “Seeing the fans makes you want to play. I scored a goal here wearing another shirt, you can really notice the atmosphere and how it spurs the team on. I hope to celebrate a lot of goals at this stadium, but I’m not setting a number,” said the striker.

Finally, Sekou Gassama talked about his first days with the Blue and Whites: “The coach asks you for that fight that he transmits, that intensity against the rival. With character, he knows what he wants and I’m available for whatever he asks for”.
