The peñas pay tribute to team captain, Recio

The ‘Federación de Peñas Malaguistas’ held their traditional Christmas dinner on Saturday, where the El Palo-born player was the guest of honour.

Recio celebrates his first Christmas as Blue and Whites’ captain, and the Malaguista fans wanted to show him their affection. To do this he was the special guest of honour at the ‘Federación de Peñas Malaguistas’ annual Christmas dinner, with a large number of supporters’ groups in attendance.

The number ‘14’, who was extremely grateful for the recognition, was presented with a gift of a replica of La Rosaleda stadium, by president of the FPM, Miguel Molina.

Together with the player, also in attendance representing the Club were advisers, Abdullah Ben Barek and Francisco Martín Aguilar, as well as member of the MCF Foundation’s Social Department, Sebastián Fernández Reyes, ‘Basti’. The mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre was also present, along with deputy, Fran Oblaré, as well as the manager of ‘Málaga sports and events’, José del Río.

“We often go to these events organised by the ‘peñas’, visiting towns in Málaga. I visited Archidona a little while ago; you can see how the people live and breathe Málaga and really get behind the team. This is wonderful, as it’s such a big city, yet everyone is so involved with the squad, and that’s what the players and the Club feel”, says Recio. For his part, Martín Aguilar praises the work of the members of the ‘peñas’ who do “a commendable, tough job, for which Málaga Club de Fútbol is very grateful. I am also proud to be with them every year and appreciate the work they continue to do”.
