“The MCF Academy is a step towards the future”

Málaga CF Board Member, Nayef Al-Thani speaks to journalist, Achraf Ben Ayad for Qatari channel, BEIN Mena, to mark the start of the works.

The MCF Academy

“The MCF Academy is very important for the team and the Club in general. It’s a step towards the future we want for Málaga. We will develop players in order to build a team for tomorrow. It’s our ambition and wish from the beginning. Finally, thank God, we have taken an important step in this direction”.

When will the project be ready?

“The works that will get underway next week have already been inaugurated. The first phase has an execution time of 10 months, followed by the second and third stages. We are working in this direction, so the project is finalised as soon as possible. The first phase will be completed this year, within a maximum of 10 months”.

Everyone knows the delicate situation Málaga CF is in, and its position in the standings. Within the Club, do you believe in the possibility of staying in the First Division?

“Of course we believe. I don’t think any team wouldn’t want to get out of this situation and improve the position we’re in. We’ve made many changes to the squad and new players have arrived. We trust in the existing players and new arrivals, and we believe that the team will certainly change for the better”.

Are you in contact with the players and coaches to motivate them during these difficult times?

“Of course, we accompany them, we support them in training sessions and matches. Although it’s perhaps not reflected in the photos, we’re always there. At times I’ve heard comments on television that we’re not here, that we’re absent. There were circumstances in Doha (Qatar), but we never lost contact with the Club, the coaches and the entire coaching team. Without doubt, they have our support in everything, and they know that, they see it, and we’ll always be here”.

Your message to Málaga CF fans

“The project will continue to happen, no matter what, and we hope the coming years will be better than this one”.
