The Malaguista forward, Salomón Rondón, spoke to the media today, Wednesday, at a press conference at the Ciudad de Málaga stadium.
Rondón’s statements:
(Second leg). “We’re starting the second leg thinking about getting the three points and we hope that on Sunday we’ll break this bad patch we’re going through. It’s been a while since we’ve scored and we hope and want that this will be the beginning of a positive patch. It’d be great to start the second leg winning against a close rival, it’ll be complicated but we have to do everything that’s humanly possible to win those three points.”
(Demanding). “We understand the public’s unhappiness with the results more than most, but those of us on the inside try and remind everyone that the season’s not over yet and the objective remains intact. We’re at ease, we’re giving 100 per cent and we hope that in May we’ll be in European positions. We always go out with the intensity and with the mentality of seeking three points, sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn’t. At this point last year we were on the way down and the people kept on supporting us and in the end we saved the team. Everyone has negative patches. The season’s not over. We have a negative patch right now and on Sunday the situation could reverse.”
(Negredo). “He made the match in Sevilla pretty complicated, always bothering the defence, and he got two goals. We’re going to have him in mind as he’s dangerous.”
(Belief). “Right now I’d give the first leg five points, and in the second perhaps another five, and so we’ll make ten. As the first leg’s finished, people now want to assess it. We’re six points away from Champions and it’s not as bad as it seems. You don’t get there by words – you get it from actions. Every Sunday there’s a possibility to reverse the situation and do it well.”
(Current affairs). “The economic side of things is separate from the sporting. We’re out on the pitch waiting for the weekend. The rest is for the office and I’m here to speak about the sporting aspects. Our job is to train day by day so that things turn out well.”
(Spain-Venezuela). “First they have to call me up and then it’ll be a great match. The two federations have a great relationship and it’ll be a fun game for people. We’re preparing for the playoffs and that gives you an extra shot in the arm.”
