Pepe Mel: “There’s no other objective than scoring the three points”

The Málaga CF manager held a press conference ahead of #RacingMálaga. We have to show what we can do and be aggressive,” he said.

Pepe Mel, Málaga CF coach, held a press conference before tomorrow’s match against Real Racing Club at El Sardinero.

He starts off by analysing the rival: “Racing does things well, they’re intense, particularly with their system of taking the ball to the wing to reach the area. It’s going to be tough, as is any rival due to the situation in the standings.”

“We’re carrying the weight of losing a lot of matches and scoring few points,” he added in regard to the team’s current situation, affirming that “there’s no other objective than scoring the three points with our style of play. We have to show what we can do and be aggressive. There are many ways to win, but for now we are going to use this one, which I think is the right one,” he stated.

The Blue and White coach talked about the absences of Chavarría and Moussa in the squad list due to injury and the return of Bustinza and Esteban Burgos: “I had total confidence in Moussa. He’s a player who could have helped us in the short term as he’s very calm for his age, so this is an unfortunate setback. Pablo too, I spoke to him, and we had found his place on the pitch, it's another stumbling block we have to face. Having Bustinza and Burgos softens the blow, I'm sure the team will measure up.”

Homegrown player Arriaza is new to the squad list for this match, and Haitam is back. “Every time someone comes up from the youth ranks, it gives you that feeling of belonging. They are training very well, they’re going to help us and give Málaga a great future,” he said about Arriaza. Regarding Haitam, he commented that “he’ll bring many things, I want him to play with his natural leg, and if he trains well and competes, I won’t hesitate in putting him on.”
