Pellicer: “This match shows us what we must improve”

The Malaguista coach spoke to the media after the defeat against Córdoba CF: “The first 20' of the second half is what we don't want,” he stated.

Disappointed with the result

“It was a back-and-forth game in the first half, with options for both teams. In the second half they started off strong. The goal came from a set piece. We lacked clarity in the ball's exit, it was clear that it was a game in which the first one that went ahead had a lot to gain. With the changes we took a step forward but we had chances that we didn’t resolve well, whilst they did. I'm disappointed with the result, but not with the attitude. I feel very sorry for the fans who came here. This is a test that has to serve us for the future.”

Things to improve

“It's a test because it's the closest thing to a playoff. The only thing that can change is the rival. It was a game that was more than three points, it was worth it if we won because of the mood and mathematically got to the playoffs. The first half was back and forth, a good game, and in the second half they were better. The team finished the last play on the goal line, the team has soul, but yes, this test shows us all where we have to improve.”

Adverse second half

“The first 20' of the second half is what we don't want. In a game like this if you have a lack of concentration it punishes you. I understand the fans, but we engage in constructive criticism of what to improve and find continuity.”

Lack of goal still an issue

“We have four matches left, we have lost one of the last 11. We have not achieved victory in the last three home games and that is the key. Today we should have scored a goal, that's what worries me the most. Decision making and finishing. We have to continue insisting, I am confident that that shine will appear. This is a learning experience, but it hasn’t been fruitful for us.”

Córdoba deserved to win

“I believe that Córdoba deserved the victory. I think that in the first half we deserved a goal, although they did too. They were more accurate and in the second half they were the better team. I'm worried that we're not seeing the goal. The boys stood up to the rival.”

Demanding

“I have a lot of empathy with the fans, I understand that they are angry. I represent a lot of people, Pellicer is not going to be a problem. To stay here, the only thing I need to do is move up.”
