Pellicer: “It’s a year in which we’ll need unity”

The Malaguista coach held a remote press conference the day before Tenerife – Málaga: “We’re going to compete knowing what Málaga CF means”.

Intense league debut. The rival, CD Tenerife

“I think it will be an intense match. The key will be maintaining that rhythm in the final stretch of the second half. We’ll be up against a team that wants to reach the playoff positions”.

The importance of playing for Málaga CF

“It’s going to be a difficult year, but there’s no excuses. We’re going to compete knowing what Málaga CF means. We proved last year that, despite so many difficulties, the team did the job. Now we’re renewing the team with many player changes, but with the same idea. We’re trying to convey that DNA to them, the feeling of playing for Málaga CF. There is an added pressure here, a major challenge for each one of us, with the most important thing being the group”.

A team that competes with humility

“We would have liked to have had more time training, more minutes of competition, but all the teams are in the same position. The most important thing tomorrow is that we convey again what we saw in the preseason, a supportive and competitive team. That’s the idea, an aggressive team that competes well, goes all out in the matches, knows how to suffer and shows humility”.

A year of unity

“What I want to see is unity, it’s a year in which we’ll need unity. The fire is put out by pouring water on it, not firewood. I want us to pour water on the situation and focus on the positives. It’s going to be a tough, difficult year, but we’ll face it with great enthusiasm and passion”.
