10 players debut in Tenerife

Seven new signings, one reserve team player and two ‘juveniles’ donned the Málaga CF jersey for the first time yesterday at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López.

#TenerifeMálaga was historic in terms of 10 players making their debut with MCF. In the starting line-up, Sergio Pellicer included the new faces of Dani Barrio in goal, Calero and Escassi in defence, Cristian in midfield, Yanis on one of the wings and Caye Quintana upfront. In addition, homegrown player Ale Benítez also debuted. In the second half, Portuguese striker Orlando Sá made his debut, along with ‘juveniles’ Issa Fomba and David Larrubia to complete the new players in action. In the case of the winger from Mali, he did so without having debuted with Atlético Malagueño, as was the case in their day with Pedro Alcalá and Fabrice Olinga.

The MCF Academy enjoyed an unforgettable day, with an historic line-up in terms of the average young age and 19-year-old veteran Ismael Casas as captain.

Record of player debuts, in Adra

The day when the most players made their debut with Málaga CF, under the new name, was in Group IX of the Third Division. A little over 26 years ago, 4th September 1994, Antonio Benítez’s Málaga drew in Adra (1-1, Juanma) with a total of 12 players making their debut in the same match, namely: Dani, Jorge, Bravo, Añón, Richard, Juanma, Basti, Armando, Álex, Kiko Aranda, Carmona and Ríos.

Counting the 10 from yesterday, there are now 377 players who have worn the Málaga Club de Fútbol jersey in an official match.
