Orlando Sá: “When I get back in shape, I’ll score goals”

He was the first to arrive. Portuguese forward Orlando Sá is the ‘oldest’ new face of the new Málaga CF 20/21.

Arrival

“When I received the call saying the Club was interested in me coming here, I thought it would be a great opportunity straight away as people have known for a long time that I haven’t been playing due to the injury and the problems I had with Standard. Then I discovered the Club’s situation and I thought I could help when I’m back in shape, and the Club could help me get my name out there again in the way of matches and goals. Now my aim is to get fit, avoid injury, which is the most important thing, and follow an upward trajectory”.

Adapting

“The language for me wasn’t a big change and I feel at ease as my family is here. My teammates help me a great deal off the pitch with everything I need, as does the Club. Taking into account all the clubs I’ve been part of, adapting to being here is the easiest of them all”.

Project

“It’s a different project as there are many new players, 15, and the Club is making many changes with lots of new things. We need to acquire certain habits as a team, above all having a winning mentality during matches, which we’ll achieve with hard work and by sticking together. Here we are all important. It’s good that the fans don’t forget that we’re not great when we win or very bad when we lose. On this long journey we’ll have difficult days, good and bad times, but we’ll get through it as a strong group”.

Objectives

“The most important thing is that when I get back in shape, I will help the team and score goals. As people know, I was out of action for a long time. I wanted to be here from the first day of the preseason to start training and to eradicate the initial discomfort a player feels when they haven’t played for a while. The first objective is to enjoy a couple of weeks of good training, avoid injury and then good things will come with gameplay”.
