Málaga CF Femenino suffered a minimal defeat against Levante UD Femenino today. A goal from Alharilla for the visitors in 37’ was the only one to move the scoreboard, with the final result 0-1 on Liga Iberdrola matchday 24.
During the initial stages of play there was a lot of back and forth between both sides. Levante had possession, but the Malaguista defence prevented the rival’s attempts without any problems. Málaga took the initiative and generated numerous chances, particularly from a set piece by Leti in 25’ that Paraluta deflected with a fingertip save. The locals dominated play and after a double save from Chelsea, the rival took the 0-1 lead thanks to a goal from Alharilla, who was unmarked when she received a pass from Eva Navarro in 37’. There was not much time for more. Paula tried her luck just before the half-time whistle, but the scoreboard remained at 0-1 after 45 minutes.
In the second half, Málaga were far more focused and in control of the ball. After three minutes, Pamela came close to going level with a perfect ball, but her shot was saved by Paraluta. The opportunities accumulated for Antonio Contreras’ girls. First Leti with a set piece in 55’ and then Mascaró in 65’. The Mallorca-born striker lost the angle on her shot and didn’t manage to surpass the Levante keeper. Málaga were far more aggressive and dominant in the second half, despite not being able to break the unfavourable result. Raquel in minute 83 also tried to make it all square at 1-1, as did Ruth in 90’ with a superb play that connected with Ode but, despite great effort, played into the hands of the Levante goalkeeper.
Despite the defeat, Málaga Femenino showed a good image against a top-level rival.
