Muñiz: “We should be satisfied with the hard work and effort”

Malaguista coach, Juan Ramón Muñiz talks about the draw in Oviedo in a press conference: “We found ourselves up against a team that performed very well in defence”, he said to the media.

Match and overall analysis

“I always view all matches as equal, complicated and tough against good rivals. The two teams worked well and either could have taken the match. We should be satisfied with the hard work and effort needed to obtain this point and continue looking forward. We must keep scoring points, we’ve now got a fortnight to rest and prepare for the next leg. The last six months of the competition will be like the first: difficult, tough and long, with exciting, balanced and highly competitive games”.

Defensive aspect

“The matches are made up of two phases, one of attack and one of defence. Getting a break at the beginning was difficult, and one small detail would have tipped the balance of the game for any player or any action. When the match began to open up more, we considered the speed and the one-on-one of Ontiveros, but those on the pitch were doing very well. We found ourselves up against a team that performed very well in defence, accumulating players on the defensive aspect”.

Final opportunities

“Up until the final minutes there are occasions, we had Cifu’s one and the disallowed goal. In the end what matters is the lead you have and making the most of the goals you score”.
