Munir donates the tools of his ‘Zamora’ to the MCF Museum

The Malaguista goalkeeper has given the Club his shirt and gloves used in the 19/20 season, during which he conceded the fewest goals in the category.

Munir Mohand now has a place amongst the most outstanding players in the history of Málaga CF. Two of the items of clothing he wore during LaLiga SmartBank 19/20, in which he was named the ‘Zamora’ of the competition, will forever remain in the ‘Blue and White Symbols’ showcase of La Rosaleda’s Museum & Tour, together with other objects donated from the likes of Duda and Van Nistelrooy, as well as our Intertoto Cup.

The Moroccan-born goalkeeper finished a great campaign, being the keeper to have conceded the least number of goals in the silver division of Spanish football, 29 out of 38 games he was part of, an average of 0,76 per match.

Statements by Munir

Zamora

“Although it’s an award I won, it’s an award for the entire team, due to the effort made by everyone. We knew the importance of keeping a clean sheet, which shows the commitment of the whole team”.

Recognition of the defensive work of the team

“It’s about praising the team. We were fighting relegation and won the Zamora award. This says a lot about the team’s commitment, as if you look back, the teams that won the Zamora have moved up or fought hard for it. What the team achieved has great merit, it shows the dedication and effort of us all, from the striker to the defender, fighting to not concede a goal”.

“It’s an honour to share a space with Málaga legends, with big names such as Duda and Van Nistelrooy. This difficult year won’t be forgotten, and this prize represents the effort and sacrifice made, which I will remember fondly”.
