Montero: “We gave everything on the pitch, but the ball just wouldn’t go in”

The Blue and White centre-back spoke to the media after the match against CD Leganés. “Taking a draw in front of our fans feels like too little, but there’s nothing to reproach the team for,” he stated.

#MálagaLeganés analysis

“It was a tough match, they made it difficult for us despite us having quite a few chances. We gave everything on the pitch, but the ball just wouldn’t go in. I want to congratulate the team for the work we put in. When you can’t win, not losing is also important.”

Outstanding performance

“We played a very complete match and had many chances. Juan Soriano made several crucial saves, and the ball just wouldn’t go in. We did everything we could to win the game, but it wasn’t meant to be. Taking a draw in front of our fans feels like too little, but there’s nothing to reproach the team for.”

Rival’s approach

“We have to focus on playing our game, no matter who we face. When they couldn’t get past us, they wasted time to try to frustrate us. They came with a plan, which worked moderately well, but our approach was incredible. We did everything possible to win, but it just didn’t happen.”

Intense physical effort

“We were exhausted from everything we gave during the match, we left it all on the pitch. Nothing to reproach regarding the effort of the entire team. The match is over, and we need to recover well for the game against Andorra. We’re going there to take all three points.”

Personal performance

“I’m feeling very good, getting better all the time. We need to keep going in this direction, which the team is following. The most important thing is that we all move together, along the same line. I’m very happy with what we’re doing, and what matters most is the team as a whole.”
