Goalless draw against Córdoba at home (0-0)

Málaga Femenino drew this afternoon against Córdoba CFF at the CD Fundación MCF, on matchday 23 of Group 3 of the Segunda Federación.

Héctor Díaz’s side took to Pitch 4 at the club’s training ground with the following starting lineup: M. Arrabal; L. Herrera, Jeni L., Yoli Peche, M. Farfán (C); Elena, Marina, Andrea Ríos, Alicia; Arantxa and Andrea Herr. Also coming on in the second half were Encarni, Futu, Noemi, and Alba Navarro, who made her debut for Málaga in 90’.

The start of the game, as well as the entire first half, was very evenly contested between both teams. The key moment came in the 35th minute, when Córdoba goalkeeper Leyre saved a penalty taken by Andrea Ríos. Before half-time, the opposing keeper stepped up again to deny a near-certain goal from Elena in the 40th minute.

In the second half, the pattern of the match didn’t change. Málaga came out with great intensity in search of the opening goal, while Córdoba focused on defensive duties. Despite numerous attacks into the visitors’ penalty area, the ball just wouldn’t go in. Córdoba even had a clear chance in the 87th minute, but María Arrabal made the save.

The scoreline remained unchanged, and the 0-0 draw earned Málaga CFF another point, bringing their total to 44. They remain provisionally in 3rd place in the standings, behind Sporting de Huelva, who have two more points (46) with the same number of matches played.

There’s no competition for the Malaguistas next week. The following week, they will face two decisive away matches: on Wednesday 8th April, against CD Femarguín, and on Saturday 11th, against Sección Deportiva Fundación Real Betis Balompié ‘B’.
