Atlético Malagueño

A big win for the reserve team against UD Maracena, away from home on league matchday 7. Sergio Pellicer’s boys scored three of their four goals in the first half, the work of Mini, Juan Cruz and Hicham. In the second half, Julio, the Blue and White ‘pichichi’ scored his sixth goal of the competition to seal the 0-4 final result. Juvenil right-back, Antoñito enjoyed a good debut. The Malaguistas remain in the top part of the standings with 12 points.

Faro International Cup

An Alevín team from the MCF Academy completed a good tournament in Portugal against youth teams of great European prestige. The Blue and Whites defeated Wolverhampton by 2-0, host team Faro by 4-0 and drew 1-1 with Everton FC in the group stage. In the quarter-finals they faced another British side, the powerful Manchester City – who were proclaimed overall champions – with City beating MCF on penalties following a 1-1 draw. In the fight for fifth place, Málaga defeated Sporting de Portugal (5-2) and lost to Atlético de Madrid (4-5), to end in a well-deserved sixth place.
