Luis Hernández: “When you do things right you are closer to winning than when you do things wrong”

The Madrid-born defender, team captain in El Alcoraz, spoke in the mixed zone following #HuescaMálaga. “The line in terms of results is not what we want. We need to work hard to change it”, he affirmed.

Poor result

“This wasn’t the match we all wanted. We were full of enthusiasm after showing a very good image in Zaragoza when we came close to winning the three points. Today wasn’t like that, especially in the first half, where we gave a version of ourselves this team never gives; with that version we’re a long way away from competing in matches. In the second half, with 10 men, the team showed more heart and pride and we attempted to get more into the match, but we cannot allow what happened in the first half to happen again”.

Do well to win

“Cádiz are coming to us, a tough opponent, as all teams are in this league. All the matches are hard-fought and competitive. We’ll analyse what happened today to make sure it doesn’t happen again and return to the path we were on over the past few weeks. When you do things right you are closer to winning than when you do things wrong. Now we need to focus on playing a good game with our fans and dedicate a victory to them, which is long overdue”.

Dynamic

“We’re currently in a dynamic where we’re not able to score the three points, but the team has given a good image and deserves more points than we have in the standings. However, points are what count. The line in terms of results is not what we want. We need to work hard to change it”.

International absences

“This week we have a lot of players going off to join their national teams, but this is a group that works well and prepares with the younger lads who are so keen to help and do their bit. I’m sure the 11 players who go out there will fight for the three points”.
