Huesca impose their strength at El Alcoraz (2-0)

Defeat for Málaga CF against SD Huesca, away from home, on LaLiga SmartBank matchday 10. Goals from Pulido and Juan Carlos Real in the first half sealed the win for the home side.

Víctor Sánchez del Amo made numerous changes to the starting line-up. He refreshed the defence with Cifuentes and Diego González; brought on Boulahroud in midfield, Renato on the right wing and reserve team player, Antoñín on the attack.

After an initial period of back and forth, Huesca asserted their power as the home side. In minute 7’ Pulido scored from a dubious position, with the goal later disallowed with the VAR check. Before the first quarter of an hour was up, Pulido reappeared and made the most of a great assist from Mikel Rico on the right to put Huesca in the lead (1-0, 7’). Míchel’s men didn’t stop. Okazaki scored midway through the first half, but the goal was declared invalid by VAR.

Boulahroud, in 38’, could have equalised in an action in which he was the object of a foul following the shot. Immediately afterwards, Juan Carlos Real scored Huesca’s second goal completing an excellent individual action (2-0, 40’). Juanpi, with a long shot in 43’, made an attempt before half time.

In the second half, Málaga CF made two substitutions. Sadiku and Adrián came on in place of Lombán and Renato. The character of the game didn’t vary too much, with the locals strong in defence and dangerous on the attack. Munir, in 51’, saved a penalty from Ferreiro that prevented the locals from increasing their lead. Five minutes later, a tackle by Adrían on the Achilles heel of a rival led to a red card after revision by VAR.

The numerical disadvantage for over half an hour didn’t do MCF any favours. Ferreiro, in 60’, narrowly missed out on the third local goal. In 62’, the Blue and Whites’ final substitution saw Juankar come on in place of Juanpi. Málaga continued to fight and generated the odd dangerous action from a set piece, with an incisive Luis Muñoz. Another homegrown player, Antoñín had the best opportunity of the second half in stoppage time (91’), but didn’t manage to crown a brilliant personal display.

The final 2-0 result reflects a better SD Huesca. As such, Málaga CF remains in 19th place in LaLiga SmartBank with eight points from 10 games.
