Lombán: “Everything is achieved with humility”

Before the team’s training session on Tuesday afternoon, the Blue and White defender commented: “There are no individual egos, we have to think about the group more than ever”.

Turn the page quickly

“Luckily, or unluckily, things are moving so fast. We’re playing every, two, three or four days, so there’s no time to think, enjoy victories or regret defeats. There’s not long left now, this is the last push, we know how close we are, but not quite there yet. With humility and respect to the competition, we’ll do our best to secure our place in the standings at home”.

Win, win, win against Alcorcón

“We’re determined to win at home on Friday. Regardless of the situation we’re in, what we have to do is win, and not think beyond that, just win the match. First, because of what it means to win, and second as every match we play we have a duty to win”.

Unexpected results

“This is the Second Division. Last year, the teams at the top had a lot of points, but this year is different. All the teams take points away, which is why there’s very little room between the play-off positions and the drop zone. However, we need to focus on ourselves, be self-critical, accept all the mistakes we make and, as always, everything is achieved with humility. We’re up against a great team on Friday, but we’re playing at home and need to focus on winning”.

From final to final

“I see it as a match we must win. We’ve been facing finals since day one. Every match we’ve played this season has been extremely difficult. We’re not going to think about the past or the future, we’re going to concentrate on the present. We’re all available to the coach, so he can decide the best players to select for the line-up. It’s about winning the match, nothing more, winning whatever happens”.

Humility and the team

“Without humility, nothing is achieved. Every rival deserves respect, regardless of the team or positions they are in. By being humble, you play the same way against the team at the top and the team at the bottom, getting 100 per cent out of each one. There are no individual egos, we have to think about the group more than ever”.

Good personal season

“After everything that’s happened, and the difficulties we’ve been through as a society, it was also a challenge for me to be fit for the maximum number of games possible for the coach. Individually, this is the way I can help the team to achieve the much-needed victories”.
