Juankar: “We’re going to wage war on Madrid”

Madrid-born Juankar Pérez speaks to MCFTV at the Ciudad de Málaga stadium. Formed in Real Madrid’s youth ranks, the left-back is facing the final stretch of his recovery: “I’ll come back stronger than before.”

Long-term injury

“It’s been a while since I had the operation, but I’m steaming ahead with my recovery and trying my best to re-join the team as soon as possible.  Mentally I’ve been fine, but that’s football and these things happen.  Luckily it wasn’t a more serious injury.  However, injuries are a part of this sport, so I need to focus on coming back stronger than before.”

Reaction of the team in his absence

“The team has been spectacular, they’ve won a lot of matches, which is why we’re now in a more comfortable position in the table.  (MCFvRMA) It’s a special match, although I won’t be able to experience it on the pitch, but I’ll be supporting the team and will be another fan on Sunday.”

Real Madrid

“It’s a difficult game, we know they’re a good team, but we’re strong at home.  We tend to perform well against the big rivals, the coach is working us very hard and I’m sure we’re going to wage war on Sunday.  I developed there as a player, grew as a person and Mourinho gave me the chance to debut with the first team.  It’s because of all that that I’m here today.”

Confidence

“We achieved a draw at the Bernabéu, which is extremely hard to do, and here at home we’ll go all out and I believe we’ll claim the three points with the team’s hard work and the support of the fans.  A result?  I dare to say a 2-1 win to us, I hope that’s the case and luck is on our side.”
