Gabilondo: We all want to win, but we value this point

The Malaguista full-back appeared before the media after the draw with Real Madrid Castilla: “We achieved a point that we will value,” he stated.

Match review

“I don't think it was the worst match of the season. It’s clear we did some things wrong, and we need to improve certain aspects of play, but there have also been positives. The team, despite not having been as fluid this evening, tried at all times to win and go for the game.”

What was missing

“Castilla have players with a lot of potential, they accumulated a lot of people inside. Maybe play was also focused on the wings with the taller full-backs, with Dani and me. We lacked a certain fluidity and accuracy that we still haven't obtained. Being self-critical, I could have been more accurate. We also had opportunities to win and lose, but the review is good, despite not being entirely positive, there are good things.”

Reason for the change

“I had a problem with my ankle that I don't think was very important, and I was also a little tired muscularly. So I decided that I should be the next substitution and make room for another, fresher teammate.”

Four wins and a draw at La Rosaleda

“Of course, we all want to win, we’re the first ones vying for victory. We’re showing ambition and enthusiasm, these points must be valued. At the end of the season, I’m sure we’ll remember them. It’s important, when you cannot win, to get a point, which doesn’t taste like glory, but to which we will give value.”

No doubts

“We have no doubts, within the team it’s clear that we trust in what we are doing, in how we are training. The feelings are good overall, of course we’ll have bad days, but on these days it’s also important not to lose and I think that today, despite not having a good day, we didn’t lose and we achieved a point that we will value.”

Accumulation of minutes

“Naturally we all want to play as much as possible. I’m very grateful to have so many minutes. Playing minutes personally gives me a lot of confidence. There will be days when we are more fatigued and less successful, but performance is not limited to the minutes played.”
