“I believe that with our work we can reverse the situation”

New Atlético Malagueño coach, Manolo Sanlúcar directed his first training session on Wednesday: “I know the category and the team well, I trust in the level of these players” he told the Club media.

Excited about the project

“I’m full of enthusiasm for this project. The call from the sports management, in this case from the youth ranks, fills you with excitement and, clearly, responsibility. I know the category and the team well, I trust the level of these players will be seen more often and we can reverse the situation”.

Transmit to the team

“The enthusiasm I have I will convey to the team and will not allow anyone to be less enthusiastic than me. We should see that on Sunday and hopefully, although it’s early, those concepts and first ideas will be conveyed”.

Hard work ahead

“It’s hard work. In addition, the current situation means we have to go one step at a time. We’re not going to get out of this position quickly, it’s impossible, as the disadvantage is important, but we’re starting with, as they say, a room in this competition. I believe in the work we can do, I believe in the Málaga CF youth ranks, not just this team, but all of them in general. They are quality teams with a great deal of talent, which is what we believe in. We’ll have to help them a lot, but we have the confidence we can turn the situation around”.

Double challenge: Reserve team and permanence

“It’s the first time for me. It’s clear that the first objective for a reserve team is to prepare the players for when the first team needs them, to make sure they’re ready which I think has been happening and which we’ve seen this year. However, of course, I’m here to save the category. We’re going to try our best starting now, we haven’t got time over a preseason to take the team where we want, but we can start now, instil the ideas we have and start to earn points. Around the corner we’ve got a match we need to win. There’s a great deal of work to do, but we’re convinced we can do it”.
