Muñiz: “We’re focused; it’s going to be a difficult game”

The Malaguista coach held a press conference the day before Elche CF – Málaga CF: “We’ll play with the same warmth from the fans as always, as we know they’ll be watching the match at home or in restaurants”.

Ready for a difficult match

“We have to be focused tomorrow as we’ve got a difficult rival. We know we’ll need to play a good game and try to score the points, and in order to do so, will need to make a huge effort. From there we’ll try to ensure that those in the starting-11 are ready to achieve the objective, and the three that go on later help and do their bit to give the team a boost”.

Elche, a hard-working rival

“It’s not that it’s harder or easier. We know they’re a good team, that have their moment, and it’s currently a tough time for them. LaLiga is starting, they are competing for objectives they set at the beginning of the season, they’ve been knocked out of the Cup…it’s too early for such an alarming situation. Not just for Elche, this situation happens to a lot of teams. It seems as though now in football there are no seasons, there are weeks, and each week you pass or fail. The projects are long-term, we know that Elche have their strengths, their qualities, they’re a hard-working group. Two weeks ago, they lost 2-0 with 10 men, and drew at the tough ground of Almendralejo. Therefore, we know we’re faced with another difficult game in which we’ll have to perform well, the rival will stand up to us and try to outdo us. The matches are going to be pretty even, and I don’t expect anything different than past weeks”.

Fans’ support from a distance

We’ll play with the same warmth from the fans as always, as we know they’ll be watching the match at home with their families or in restaurants, seeing how their team performs. We have a responsibility to them, whether they’re there or not. We know that we always have to give the best of ourselves as we represent a Club and a massive fan base. When our fans are with us we hear the noise, but when they’re not there our only satisfaction when the match comes to an end is that the supporters, our families and everyone we represent are happy and satisfied with what we’ve done. The responsibility for us is the same”.
