Málaga Club de Fútbol is taking on Córdoba Club de Fútbol at the Nuevo Arcángel Stadium on Saturday 18th October at 10 p.m. This regional derby, which is a first in the BBVA League under the team’s current name, has a lot of history.
The last match between these two teams was in 2007/08 at La Rosaleda in the Second Division, which ended in a 1-2 defeat for the ‘Malaguistas’. Málaga CF’s last victory at the Nuevo Arcángel stadium was in 1997/98 in Second Division B by 0-1, thanks to a goal from Basti. Matches between these rivals have resulted in two wins for Málaga, three defeats and one draw in both the Second and Second Division B.
The last time these two teams met in the First Division was in 1971/72 when the Blue and Whites were under the name Club Deportivo Málaga. The match ended in a 2-2 draw, with goals from Málaga’s Migueli and Arias. Current Club adviser, Antonio Benítez was present for this game.
