Deportivo - Málaga CF’s rival in Copa del Rey knockout round

Málaga Club de Fútbol will face Real Club Deportivo de La Coruña in the knockout stage of the Copa del Rey. The first leg will take place on Wednesday 3rd December at the Riazor Stadium, and the return leg on Wednesday 17th December at La Rosaleda.

The draw for the knockout round of the Copa del Rey was held this morning at the Royal Spanish Football Federation’s headquarters.  The winner of the clash between RC Deportivo and Málaga CF will face either Albacete Balompié or Levante UD.

The ‘Malaguistas’ haven’t faced Deportivo de La Coruña in the Copa del Rey since 1999/2000.  That season, Málaga CF was eliminated from the competition due to double the number of away goals, having achieved a 1-0 result in the first leg at the Riazor, and 2-1 at La Rosaleda.

Málaga CF will face Deportivo de La Coruña in two consecutive matches at the Riazor Stadium.  The first leg of the Copa del Rey is taking place in the same week as the 14th BBVA League game of the season.
