Guede: “Work has to reap rewards”

The Malaguista coach held a press conference this Friday afternoon in the run-up to #HuescaMálaga. “I'm used to this and most of the time I've been successful,” he stated.

Pablo Guede, Málaga CF coach, held a press conference ahead of the match against SD Huesca on Sunday at El Alcoraz.

When initially asked about the condition of the players, he commented: “They’re great, they know what they’re doing, and their hard work has to reap rewards. There are no doubts, they’re in a good place.”

In the words of the Argentinean coach, the match preparation has focused on “continuing to insist on the things we have to do, on those partnerships that we need to have, both in attack and defence, to reduce the margin of error and keep doing what we’re doing on the attack.”

In relation to how the team will face the match against SD Huesca, he said: “In defence we’ll try to manage the counterattacks as they have some very fast players. We’ll try to avoid all lateral crosses as they’re strong on the wing.  On the attack we’ll try to go from the outside.”

“If we had made the same mistake several times, I’d be worried. With the goals conceded the other day we made six mistakes in two plays. I told them those are the small details that we can’t fail on again,” said Guede regarding the errors made that led to the two goals conceded last weekend.

Asked about Alfred N’Diaye, he explained that he sees him “well” and he has to “continue improving in all aspects. It’s not easy arriving how he did, and the first few days were crazy. This week was more normal, he trained with his teammates, and he’ll certainly help the team,” he stated.

The Blue and White coach clarified that “the fracture between the people and Pablo Guede will never happen, because I love this Club and the people love me. As a coach it hurts me, but I know how to differentiate the personal from the professional,” he added. “We’re on the road and we’re going through rain and storms,” he said about the start of the league. “I'm used to this and most of the time I've been successful. I always feel the support of José María, Manolo, Capote and the Club employees. The love is there, I can tell they want me to do well. I have the unconditional support of the people of the Club,” he said.

Lastly, he thanked the fans for their support during the match against Albacete Balompié. “I understand that we lost at home, and we haven't won here for nine months. I’m not worried about playing home or away as the fans are amazing. They really pushed the team on and when the match was over, they gave their verdict,” he concluded.
