Malaguistas X Naturaleza goes green

The Málaga CF Foundation, in collaboration with Ecovidrio, presents the program of initiatives for glass recycling that will be carried out during the 2022/23 season.

The ‘Malaguistas X Naturaleza’ platform, which demonstrates Málaga CF's commitment to the environment, kicks off this season to continue the fight to defend our ecosystem.

This 2022/23 season, the MCF Foundation joins forces with Ecovidrio (with the support of PROAMB, a consulting and advisory company from Málaga on environmental matters) and the 'Malaguistas X Naturaleza, Salta al Verde' campaign, to develop a program of sustainable initiatives aimed at encouraging glass recycling, which will run from September to December.

The campaign calendar was presented this Friday afternoon in the 'Juan Cortés' press room at La Rosaleda Stadium, with a screening of the initiative's advert and speeches by Lucas Rodríguez, MCF Foundation coordinator, and Borja Martiarena, marketing director of Ecovidrio.

Lucas Rodríguez, the MCF Foundation coordinator recognises “how important it is to improve our surroundings at an environmental level. Last season we launched this 'Malaguistas X Naturaleza' project, which takes a very important step at the start of this season with the union with Ecovidrio, and also with PROAMB,” he added.

Ecovidrio’s director of marketing, Borja Martiarena wants to “convey that commitment, that love for our colours, the Blue and the White. Get involved, take your jars and bottles and put them in the green container.”

Attending the event were Francisco Martín Aguilar, Protocol and Institutional Relations adviser; José Antonio Ruiz Guerra, Club adviser; as well as Cristóbal Ortega, provincial deputy for the Environment, Domestic Tourism, Climate Change and Sport; Borja Vivas, director of the Diputación de Málaga’s Sports Department; and Alberto Jiménez, general manager of PROAMB.

Cristóbal Ortega, provincial deputy for the Environment, Domestic Tourism, Climate Change and Sport said that “it’s an awareness campaign for Malaguista fans, with what it means in terms of respect for the environment and care for our ecosystem. It stems from Ecovidrio and Málaga CF, and we support it. We are all aware that we have to recycle and do our bit.”

The first activity of the 'Malaguistas X Naturaleza, Salta al Verde' campaign is the Malaguista Ecoclass. This will be held between October and November at different schools during which, in addition to talks, students will collect glass that they will deposit in special containers designed with the Málaga Club de Fútbol colours and the image of the fans.

Also in November, the Málaga Genuine players, a team from the MCF Foundation’s Supercapacitad@s Football School, will feature in the recording and broadcast of an advert to raise awareness of the importance of glass recycling.

The third initiative within 'Malaguistas X Naturaleza, Salta al Verde' is focused on the collection of glass containers during matches at La Rosaleda that will be held during the months of October and November.

In addition, from the beginning of October to mid-December, mini recycling containers commemorating the campaign with the design that combines the green of Ecovidrio and the Blue and White of Málaga CF can be purchased at the MCF Store at La Rosaleda.

The last action within 'Malaguistas X Naturaleza, Salta al Verde' will involve season ticket holders plogging, under the title 'Get involved with the goal of sustainability', around La Rosaleda, the Annexe and the Guadalmedina River in search of glass containers for recycling.

The blue of Málaga CF, through its Foundation, and the green of Ecovidrio form a great team through this joint initiative to improve the environment.

Malaguistas X Nature, go green and recycle glass!
