Guede: “We’ll give everything we’ve got, and more, to reach the objective”
The Blue and White coach held a press conference today in the Club’s ‘Juan Cortés’ press room. “It's not just going to be up to us to keep Málaga in the Second Division,” he stressed.
“The first thing is our match against Tenerife. A tough game, as they all are. They’re playing for the playoffs, we’re playing to stay in the division, so it’s going to be incredibly difficult for both of us,” said the Argentinean coach, who added that “the most important thing is the group, above the individuals.”
In regard to absences, “now’s the time to have all the soldiers ready and select the best ones for each match. Unfortunately, I can’t (have them), but I’m not complaining, this is what we have to do. We need 11, and four or five subs, and we’ve got that,” Guede stated.
Asked about Luis Muñoz, he said: “Luis is doing really well, he’s been excellent in training. I don’t know if he can play 10, 15, 30 or 90 (minutes), but the good thing is he’s available to the team. As is Pablo Chavarría, who was in training the other day and is now gaining pace. He’s trained all week, it’s a delight to have him back with us again,” he said.
Guede was blunt about the team’s situation: “During the week I conveyed a message to the group and they took it really well. What I can tell everyone is that we’ll give everything we’ve got, and more, to reach the objective. It's not just going to be up to us to keep Málaga in the Second Division. We need everyone.”
Lastly, he assessed Sunday’s rival at the Heliodoro. “A very strong team defensively, not easily disarmed as they’re very clear about what they’re playing for. They have a lot of attacking players, I think they’ll be constantly attacking us because they need the points. It’ll likely be a game of two halves,” he concluded.
