On Thursday this week, members of the Peña Malaguista de Fuengirola gave special recognition to José Recio for his commitment, sacrifice and love for the colours. The Málaga CF captain received the award for best player of the 2016/17 season, and thanked everyone in attendance for their unconditional support during these difficult times for the Club.
Recio, who was accompanied by Club advisers, Abdullah Ben Barek and Francisco Martín Aguilar, was greeted with applause on his arrival at the peña. “A welcome like this during such tough times, with such love and support, is greatly appreciated. This Club, this city and these fans need to return to the First Division as soon as possible” stated Recio.
As well as the Blue and Whites’ captain, Ben Barek was also recognised by the members of the Fuengirola supporters’ club, a week after his tribute at La Rosaleda. Martín Aguilar presented the members of the peña with a football signed by the entire first team.
