First point of the year (1-1)

All square for Málaga CF Femenino in the derby against Granada CF this Saturday in Cártama, the team’s first point of the new year.

The match, corresponding to matchday 9 of Group Sur ‘A’ in the Reto Iberdrola, took place in front of a number of fans at the Cártama ground. Nati Gutiérrez’s side got off to a determined start, going in front quickly in the first half. The team’s pichichi, María Ruiz scored for the Blue and Whites (1-0, 13’). However, central defender Cristina Postigo went level before half-time for the visitors (1-1, 32’).

The scoreboard didn’t alter in the second half in a closely-fought, intense duel with the defenders prevailing over the forwards. Tati made her season debut for the first team, Edna performed well after she left the bench, launching the ball to the crossbar, and Andrea Romero was solid in goal against her former team. The girls faced a competitive Granada featuring several former players including coach José Herrera and players Pamela, Raquel and the aforementioned Postigo.

The second consecutive draw in the last two group games for MCFF, after equalising away from home in the second round opener against Juan Grande. The next game is against away against a direct rival at the bottom of the table, La Solana.
